My favorite signs from Rally for Sanity and/or Fear

I looked at all 300+ signs submitted to the Huffington Post (I couldn’t stop!). Here are my favorites. Tweet

Imagine all the people: Living life in health

Four conferences over two weeks … there’s so much swirling in my head that I could write a post for each of eight different topics. But tonight I landed on a central theme after watching the video of Regina Holliday describe the painting she created during the Health 2.0 conference in San Francisco. She captures [...]

How I suffered an actual storytelling injury

When my siblings and cousins get together we tell stories about those idyllic days 40 years ago when we frolicked and dodged death and dismemberment at The Cabin. Even our in-laws tell the stories — and they weren’t even there. The Cabin was a tiny A-frame that sheltered six adults and 10 kids at a [...]

Somebody walking over my grave?

My sister, Teresa Krizman, saw this tombstone while visiting Crested Butte, Colo. Chills down the spine. Literally. BTW, for a Yahoo community discussion about the expression “BLANK walked across my grave,” go here. Tweet

I love my old friend’s photo blog

I’ve kept track of Essdras Suarez via his Facebook posts. Until today, however, I hadn’t followed the link to his photo blog. What a treat. A Boston Globe photographer, he pulls a broad range of assignments: from cupcake food shot to Haiti earthquake relief. It’s impressive: he captures exquisite moments, whether firing away on the [...]

Family teepee project: Too many chiefs; not enough Indians

I love my family, for all its weirdness. My aunt plans to live in a teepee in the badlands on the Colorado-Utah border, so of course the family got together to build it. We didn’t know what we were doing, but we had an instruction book and lots  of opinions. The canvas fit the tangle [...]

Poet brings vision statement to life

Tears of pride welled up yesterday as I watched a corporate video. A corporate video! Diane Gage-Lofgren, our national VP of communications and PR, had asked a poet/performance artist  to bring life to our communication team’s new vision statement. A stroke of genius. I will forever have a visual and resonant image to add soul [...]

Can you visualize deforestation?

90 acres of trees are cut down each minute. A striking statement, but what does it mean to me? This video by Maya Lin (creator of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial) helped me grasp the enormity of the statistic. The haunting melody by Brian Eno also transfixed me. Others who have blogged/tweeted about this also mention [...]

Video storytelling is a whole different game

I’ve been working for a couple of years on my video technical skills. In the past few months, I’ve concentrated more on the storytelling part. I have a long way to go, as my Vimeo portfolio will attest. Kai gives Granny a knitting lesson from Steve Krizman on Vimeo. What I’ve learned so far: Video [...]

The word for what I feel about Obama: Disappointed

I’m trying to be patient. But WTF: first we line up behind Russia and China in favor landmines, and now we’ll be escalating war? Tweet
